This week I’m taking on building vehicles with the Starfinder Tech Revolution rules.
The stats aren’t final, just exploring how and what we can manage in a quick read of the material.
We’re calling Max’s Interceptor level 7, Cruiser, Huge, Prototype but it could just as easily be a modified Ford Falcon with the 2 modification slots that level 5 comes with. It may not really need a 3rd upgrade slot, we’ll see.
We see Max drive it off very flat terrain but it’s not necessarily off-road capable. Armored, probably not, Amphibious certainly not. Hover, Hybrid, or Junk, nope. A lot of the other vehicles in the series might be Junk. Not Luxury, Racer, or Transport. You could make the case for Racer more than off-road, but Racer makes it less sturdy and we see it take some punishment.
Adamantine Plating? We might go Armored before this, but Armored is slow. Extra Seats? no, Huge gives it a lot of seats as is. The Interceptor doesn’t have a Ramming Prow, but a lot of the big rigs in the series do.
Paizo locks the Turbo Boost behind item level 7, so if we call the Interceptor’s engine Turbo then it has to be level 7. So the math gets a minor rewrite. If the Turbo is the only mod we need it can be Factory-made instead of a Prototype.
We could make it a Racer Prototype and then add the Adamantine Plating.
Looking at the Collision Dampeners, I think we need a low-tech Roll Cage around item level 4 or 5, but right now we’re looking at things that we can do with the new rules by themselves.
